Tired? Worn Out? Burned Out On Religion? / Emini Futures Trading - Tuesday March 30, 2010

"Listen to my voice in the morning, Lord. Each morning I bring my requests to You and wait expectantly"
(Psalm 5:3, NLT)

Listen, God! Please, pay attention! Can you make sense of these ramblings, my groans and cries? King-God, I need your help.
   Every morning
you'll hear me at it again.
   Every morning
I lay out the pieces of my life
      on your altar
and watch for fire to descend.
(Psalm 5:1-3 The Message)
The key to understanding this scripture is not in the petitions or the grocery list of needs... It's in the waiting, the watching and the expectancy. If God had never moved in my life, if He had not done above and beyond my wildest imagination, had He not parted my very own Red Sea again and again, I would probably be an atheist, at best an agnostic, but here I am -  A Believer. Praying the Promises of God
As promised we are beginning the promises of God with today's show.

Matthew 11
"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30For my yoke is easy and my burden is light." (NIV)

28-30"Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you'll recover your life. I'll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won't lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you'll learn to live freely and lightly." (The Message) (Listen Now)

Rise And Shine or How To Play For Keeps And Still Lose All Your Marbles / Emini Futures Trading - Tuesday March 23, 2010

"Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord rises upon you" (Isaiah 60:1, NIV)

"For no matter how many promises God has made, they are "Yes" in Christ. And so through Him the "Amen" is spoken by us to the Glory of God" (2 Cor.1:20). Read this verse carefully. All promises are YES in Christ, but they must become AMEN through us. Amen means; it is true and certain. We must take God at His Word because His Word is true and just and we must use those promises in faith when praying. We add the AMEN with our lives because a promise means nothing if we do not claim it for ourselves.
According to Everet E. Storms there are 7959 promises in Scripture made by God. If we use one promise each day it will take us 22 (twenty-two) years to use each of the promises once. Caleb lived 40 (forty years) on one promise. How may years can we live on 7959 promises?
Armin Gesswein said: Promises predict the answers to prayer. They are the molds into which we pour our prayers. They foretell what to expect. They shape our praying. They motivate, direct and determine our supplication.. This makes Christian praying different! How? In a very real sense we pray from the answer.. with the answer in mind.. from the answer to it. This is the way of The Lord, the way of faith. He promises - we believe. We act on His Word. In this way answered prayer not only satisfies us; it delights the Heart of God by fulfilling His Own Word. And this is a most important thing with God."
We must go to God with His own promises. When we pray for revival or a person's salvation we must look in Scripture for God's Will and then look for any promise in that connection. Stand on those promises, add an AMEN to the promise. In Jeremiah 33:19-27 the Lord says that His promises (to David) are as steadfast as sunrise and sunset: "If you can break My covenant with the day and My covenant with the night, so that day and night no longer come at their appointed time then my covenant with David my servant.. can be broken.." See what it says in Numbers 23:19 "God is not a man that He should lie nor a son of man that He should change His mind. Does He speak and then not act? Does He promise and not fulfill?" (Listen Now)

In the Eyes of God / Emini Futures Trading - Thursday March 18, 2010

"The LORD is with you,
O valiant warrior."
Judges 6:12 NASB

Genesis 1:26-27 (The Message)

God spoke: "Let us make human beings in our image, make them
      reflecting our nature
So they can be responsible for the fish in the sea,
the birds in the air, the cattle,
   And, yes, Earth itself,
and every animal that moves on the face of Earth."
   God created human beings;
      he created them godlike,
   Reflecting God's nature.
He created them male and female.
   God blessed them:
"Prosper! Reproduce! Fill Earth! Take charge!
Be responsible for fish in the sea and birds in the air,
for every living thing that moves on the face of Earth."

Psalm 8 (The Message)

3-4 I look up at your macro-skies, dark and enormous,
      your handmade sky-jewelry,
Moon and stars mounted in their settings.
Then I look at my micro-self and wonder,
Why do you bother with us?
Why take a second look our way?

5-8 Yet we've so narrowly missed being gods,
      bright with Eden's dawn light.
You put us in charge of your handcrafted world,
      repeated to us your Genesis-charge,
Made us lords of sheep and cattle,
even animals out in the wild,
   Birds flying and fish swimming,
whales singing in the ocean deeps.

Works Matter
By Max Lucado

“If people say they have faith, but do nothing, their faith is worth nothing. Can faith like that save them?”
James 2:14

James’ message is bare-knuckled; his style is bare-boned. Talk is cheap, he argues. Service is invaluable. It’s not that works save the Christian, but that works mark the Christian. In James’ book of logic, it only makes sense that we who have been given much should give much. Not just with words. But with our lives.

Got Junk? - Wednesday March 17, 2010

"I know how great this makes you feel, even though you have to put up with every kind of aggravation in the meantime. Pure gold put in the fire comes out of it proved pure; genuine faith put through this suffering comes out proved genuine. When Jesus wraps this all up, it's your faith, not your gold, that God will have on display as evidence of his victory."
1 Peter 1:6-7 (The Message)

To Worship the Big Lie
1-2 God told Jeremiah, "Up on your feet! Go to the potter's house. When you get there, I'll tell you what I have to say." 3-4So I went to the potter's house, and sure enough, the potter was there, working away at his wheel. Whenever the pot the potter was working on turned out badly, as sometimes happens when you are working with clay, the potter would simply start over and use the same clay to make another pot. 5-10Then God's Message came to me: "Can't I do just as this potter does, people of Israel?" God's Decree! "Watch this potter. In the same way that this potter works his clay, I work on you, people of Israel. At any moment I may decide to pull up a people or a country by the roots and get rid of them. But if they repent of their wicked lives, I will think twice and start over with them. At another time I might decide to plant a people or country, but if they don't cooperate and won't listen to me, I will think again and give up on the plans I had for them. 11"So, tell the people of Judah and citizens of Jerusalem my Message: 'Danger! I'm shaping doom against you, laying plans against you. Turn back from your doomed way of life. Straighten out your lives.'
Jeremiah 18:1-11 (The Message)
"Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling;"

Stay With God / Emini Futures Trading - Tuesday March 16, 2010

"I am confident of this: I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living"
(Psalm 27:13, NIV)

(Listen Now)

A David Psalm

1 Light, space, zest— that's God!
So, with him on my side I'm fearless,
afraid of no one and nothing.

2 When vandal hordes ride down
      ready to eat me alive,
   Those bullies and toughs
      fall flat on their faces.

 3 When besieged,
      I'm calm as a baby.
   When all hell breaks loose,
      I'm collected and cool.

4 I'm asking God for one thing,
      only one thing:
To live with him in his house
      my whole life long.
   I'll contemplate his beauty;
      I'll study at his feet.

5 That's the only quiet, secure place
      in a noisy world,
   The perfect getaway,
far from the buzz of traffic.

6 God holds me head and shoulders
above all who try to pull me down.
I'm headed for his place to offer anthems
      that will raise the roof!
   Already I'm singing God-songs;
      I'm making music to God.

7-9 Listen, God, I'm calling at the top of my lungs:
"Be good to me! Answer me!"
When my heart whispered, "Seek God,"
      my whole being replied,
   "I'm seeking him!"
      Don't hide from me now!

 9-10 You've always been right there for me;
don't turn your back on me now.
   Don't throw me out, don't abandon me;
you've always kept the door open.
My father and mother walked out and left me,
      but God took me in.

 11-12 Point me down your highway, God;
      direct me along a well-lighted street;
show my enemies whose side you're on.
Don't throw me to the dogs,
those liars who are out to get me,
filling the air with their threats.

 13-14 I'm sure now I'll see God's goodness
      in the exuberant earth.
   Stay with God!
      Take heart. Don't quit.
   I'll say it again:
      Stay with God.

Discipline in a Long-Distance Race

Hebrews 12 - The Message

1-3Do you see what this means—all these pioneers who blazed the way, all these veterans cheering us on? It means we'd better get on with it. Strip down, start running—and never quit! No extra spiritual fat, no parasitic sins. Keep your eyes on Jesus, who both began and finished this race we're in. Study how he did it. Because he never lost sight of where he was headed—that exhilarating finish in and with God—he could put up with anything along the way: Cross, shame, whatever. And now he's there, in the place of honor, right alongside God. When you find yourselves flagging in your faith, go over that story again, item by item, that long litany of hostility he plowed through. That will shoot adrenaline into your souls!
4-11In this all-out match against sin, others have suffered far worse than you, to say nothing of what Jesus went through—all that bloodshed! So don't feel sorry for yourselves. Or have you forgotten how good parents treat children, and that God regards you as his children?

My dear child, don't shrug off God's discipline,
but don't be crushed by it either.
   It's the child he loves that he disciplines;
the child he embraces, he also corrects.
God is educating you; that's why you must never drop out. He's treating you as dear children. This trouble you're in isn't punishment; it's training, the normal experience of children. Only irresponsible parents leave children to fend for themselves. Would you prefer an irresponsible God? We respect our own parents for training and not spoiling us, so why not embrace God's training so we can truly live? While we were children, our parents did what seemed best to them. But God is doing what is best for us, training us to live God's holy best. At the time, discipline isn't much fun. It always feels like it's going against the grain. Later, of course, it pays off handsomely, for it's the well-trained who find themselves mature in their relationship with God.
12-13So don't sit around on your hands! No more dragging your feet! Clear the path for long-distance runners so no one will trip and fall, so no one will step in a hole and sprain an ankle. Help each other out. And run for it!
14-17Work at getting along with each other and with God. Otherwise you'll never get so much as a glimpse of God. Make sure no one gets left out of God's generosity. Keep a sharp eye out for weeds of bitter discontent. A thistle or two gone to seed can ruin a whole garden in no time. Watch out for the Esau syndrome: trading away God's lifelong gift in order to satisfy a short-term appetite. You well know how Esau later regretted that impulsive act and wanted God's blessing—but by then it was too late, tears or no tears.(Listen Now)

A Person You Can Trust / Emini Futures Trading - Monday March 9, 2010

"Catch for us the foxes,
  the little foxes that
 ruin the vineyards, our
vineyards that are in bloom.
(Song of Songs 2:15, NIV)

The Story About Investment
"It's also like a man going off on an extended trip. He called his servants together and delegated responsibilities. To one he gave five thousand dollars, to another two thousand, to a third one thousand, depending on their abilities. Then he left. Right off, the first servant went to work and doubled his master's investment. The second did the same. But the man with the single thousand dug a hole and carefully buried his master's money.
19-21"After a long absence, the master of those three servants came back and settled up with them. The one given five thousand dollars showed him how he had doubled his investment. His master commended him: 'Good work! You did your job well. From now on be my partner.'
22-23"The servant with the two thousand showed how he also had doubled his master's investment. His master commended him: 'Good work! You did your job well. From now on be my partner.'
24-25"The servant given one thousand said, 'Master, I know you have high standards and hate careless ways, that you demand the best and make no allowances for error. I was afraid I might disappoint you, so I found a good hiding place and secured your money. Here it is, safe and sound down to the last cent.'
26-27"The master was furious. 'That's a terrible way to live! It's criminal to live cautiously like that! If you knew I was after the best, why did you do less than the least? The least you could have done would have been to invest the sum with the bankers, where at least I would have gotten a little interest.
28-30"'Take the thousand and give it to the one who risked the most. And get rid of this "play-it-safe" who won't go out on a limb. Throw him out into utter darkness."
(Matthew 25: 14-30, The Message)
One of the best examples of integrity in Scripture comes from the life of Daniel. In Daniel chapter 6 we read that Darius the Mede has taken over the rule of Babylon after the sudden death of Belshazzar and he decides to reorganise the rule of the Babylon by appointing three administrators to oversee the kingdom. He places Daniel in one of these positions and over time becomes so impressed by him that he plans to make Daniel the ruler over the entire kingdom.

Unsurprisingly, Daniel's fellow administrators and other government officials don't find this plan so attractive and devise a plan to take Daniel out of his job - permanently. They begin looking for ways to discredit Daniel but their search is fruitless. As verse 4 says they "tried to find grounds for charges against Daniel in his conduct of government affairs, but they were unable to do so. They could find no corruption in him, because he was trustworthy and neither corrupt nor negligent". They then decide to attack Daniel in the one place they know he is "vulnerable" - his faith in God (v5).

So they go to the king and in the midst of great flattery suggest that he issue a decree making it illegal to pray to any god or man other than Darius in the next 30 days. Anyone who disobeys the law is to be thrown into a den of lions. The king agrees and immediately puts the policy into effect. When Daniel hears of the decree he remains unmoved in his devotion to God. He simply goes home and prays in the same open manner as was his custom.

When Daniel's conspirators see this they set off with speed to the King to report Daniel's unlawful behaviour. The King becomes grieved since Daniel is one of his best men but knows that he has no choice but to follow through with the punishment that he himself created.

Most of us know the outcome of the story. Daniel is thrown to a pack of lions for their evening meal God protects Daniel and in the morning he is found alive and unharmed. The King rejoices and the God of Israel is praised.

All too often we are tempted to see our lives as a series of boxes.  We have our family life, our working life, our spiritual life and there is no real integration between these spheres. Therefore we have the tendency to apply different sets of rules to each of these areas. So my spiritual life may be dictated by God while my working life is dictated by the standards set by my company. What we learn from Daniel is that for the Christian, integrity is about the consistent living of the Christian life. If all of life comes under the lordship of Christ, which it does, then having integrity means that we are living under His standards in all that we do. Looking back at Daniel 4:6, we find that no fault could be found with Daniel when it came to his conduct. Unlike a vast number of politicians today, there were no skeletons in his cupboard. Look Up / Emini Futures Trading - Friday March 5, 2010

"Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things"
(Colossians 3:2, NIV)

So if you're serious about living this new resurrection life with Christ, act like it. Pursue the things over which Christ presides. Don't shuffle along, eyes to the ground, absorbed with the things right in front of you. Look up, and be alert to what is going on around Christ—that's where the action is. See things from his perspective.
(Colossians 3:1-2, The Message)
the irony, it seems, of walking such a narrow path with any consistency is that your eyes cannot be looking at the path itself; nor can they be glancing either side. your attention cannot be diverted to the landscapes you have already passed; the mountains or valleys that inevitably lie ahead. when we walk according to our own strength, we stumble; when we follow the path according to our own understanding, we fall. we are incapable of traveling this path in our own strength. the only source of true consistency - and of true faithfulness - doesn't stem from anything we can do own our own: we only move forward when we're looking up.(read more)

Prosperity for God's People / Emini Futures Trading - Wednesday March 3, 2010

"I will praise the Lord at all times. I will constantly speak His praises"
(Psalm 34:1, NLT)

I bless God every chance I get; my lungs expand with his praise.
(Psalm 34:1, the Message)
(Listen Now)

"Others may do what they please, and murmur, and complain, and be filled with dread and apprehension of the future; but I will bless the Lord at all times. I can always see something for which I ought to bless him. I can always see some good which will come out of blessing him. Therefore will I bless him at all times. And this," says the Psalmist, "I will not only do in my heart, but I will do it with my tongue. His praise shall continually be in my mouth," that others may hear it, that others may begin to praise him, too, for murmuring is contagious, and so, thank God, is praise; and one man may learn from another--take the catchword and the keyword out of another man's mouth, and then begin to praise God with him. "His praise shall continually be in my mouth." What a blessed mouthful! If some people had God's praises in their mouths, they would not so often have fault-finding with their fellow-men.
"If half the breath thus vainly spent" in finding fault with our fellow-Christians were spent in prayer and praise, how much happier, how much richer, we should be spiritually! "His praise shall continually be in my mouth."

Prosperity for God's People / Emini Futures Trading - Sabbat Update

"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."
(Jeremiah 29:11 NIV)

"I have it all planned out—plans to take care of you, not abandon you, plans to give you the future you hope for.
(Jeremiah 29:11 The Message)

Well friends, in this lifetime I've had my ups and I've had my downs. I've been wrong and I've been right, I've had money and not had money.
(btw - having money is so much better) In fact, I've worked hard all my life so I kinda' figured this "doing nothing" thing would be a cinch. And it may well be... if I ever get around to it.

I'm now two official non- working days into this venture called Sabbat a.k.a. CT's Big Adventure a.k.a. CT's Mid-Life Crisis and I've been so busy I've gotten absolutely nothing done. No contemplation, no revelation, no speculation, not so much as even a harried glimpse at my navel. How in the world did I ever find 4 hours a day to do a radio show? Perhaps my current goal although lofty and noble, may not be doable in the real world.

Hindsight is awesome. Can I get an Amen? Without realizing it, via Sabbat I set out to live life in a vacuum. Well Stop The Press! - Life doesn't exist in a vacuum. The very second I hung up my headphones and bid you farewell last Friday, effectively clearing my schedule well beyond the foreseeable horizon, life suddenly rushed back in to fill it up again. Oy Vey!

So here's the plan. I'm going to dial back the "nothing factor" just a notch. I will once again take to the airwaves (also known as breaking wind in the industry) for 30 minutes a day. Casually and occasionally. No commitment. A quick devotional, scan of the markets, highlights of weekly and daily zones and then off to class at the Navel Academy. I'm not certain of the exact time slot. Tomorrow it will be 10AM EST. If I can push enough stuff off my desk it will become 9AM EST... except Thursday off course because of the Men's Prayer Breakfast. See what I mean? Life is what happens while you're making other plans. If you don't catch it live there's always iTunes and a host of other ways to catch the pod including the page you're on right now.

I know what you're thinking.
"He couldn't live without us"
